Terms of Business
The terms that apply to our quotations and commissions, together with your statutory rights as a customer.
Last updated: 20 October 2026
These terms apply to all quotations, orders and work carried out by Glassvancouver. Please read them together with your individual quotation, which sets out the specific details of your commission. If anything in your quotation differs from these terms, the quotation takes priority.
About us
Glassvancouver is registered in England and Wales under company number 08363517, VAT registration number 128 8906 78. Our studio is at 15 Alexander Court, Fleming Road, Earlstrees Industrial Estate, Corby, Northamptonshire, NN17 4SW. You can contact us at [email protected].
Quotations
- Every piece is quoted individually. We do not publish fixed prices, because each commission differs in size, design, materials and installation.
- Quotations are based on the information, measurements and photographs available at the time. If the final survey or the site conditions differ significantly, we will explain any change and ask for your agreement before going ahead.
- Each quotation states how long it remains valid and whether VAT is included.
Placing an order
A contract is formed when you accept your quotation in writing (e-mail is fine) and we confirm the order. Where a deposit is required, the amount and timing will be stated in your quotation, and work will be scheduled once it has been received.
Design approval
For bespoke work we provide a design drawing and, where appropriate, glass samples. Manufacture begins only after you have approved the final design in writing. Changes requested after approval may affect the price and the timescale, and we will confirm these with you first.
The nature of handmade glass
Stained and decorative glass is a handmade, natural product. Hand-rolled and mouth-blown glass contains seeds, streaks, ripples and variations in colour and texture, and colours can look different in different light. These characteristics are part of the beauty of the material and are not defects.
Measurements and site readiness
Where we carry out the survey, we are responsible for our measurements. Where you supply measurements yourself, we will make the work to the sizes you provide, and we cannot be responsible for pieces that do not fit because of incorrect information. On installation day, please ensure the area is accessible, clear and safe to work in.
Delivery and installation
We will agree a delivery or installation date with you. Timescales are estimates and we will keep you informed of any changes. If installation cannot go ahead because the site is not ready, an additional visit may be chargeable.
Payment
Payment terms, including any deposit and the balance due on completion, are set out in your quotation and invoice. Ownership of the work passes to you once it has been paid for in full.
Cancellation
If you are a consumer and the contract is agreed away from our premises or at a distance, you normally have 14 days to cancel under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013. However, this right does not apply to goods made to your specifications or clearly personalised, such as bespoke stained glass, once work on them has begun at your request. If you cancel before manufacture starts, we will refund any payment, less reasonable costs already incurred for design work you asked us to start.
Your statutory rights
As a consumer you have legal rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015: goods must be as described, of satisfactory quality and fit for purpose, and services must be carried out with reasonable care and skill. Nothing in these terms affects those rights. If something is not right, please tell us as soon as possible so we can put it right.
Our liability
We are responsible for loss or damage that is a foreseeable result of our breach of these terms or our failure to use reasonable care and skill. We do not exclude or limit liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud.
Intellectual property
Designs, drawings and cartoons we create remain our intellectual property unless agreed otherwise in writing. You may of course enjoy, photograph and share the finished piece. We may photograph completed work for our portfolio; if you would prefer us not to, just let us know.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with any aspect of our work, please contact us at [email protected]. We will acknowledge your complaint promptly and do our best to resolve it fairly.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you may also bring proceedings in your local courts.
